Consultation
The Department for Transport has launched a consultation on the implementation of EU Regulation 165/2014 specifying a new generation of Tachograph units which will be required to be fited to newly registered vehicles from around 2019.
Since the legislation is a regulation rather than a directive there are a few areas where member states have flexibility in the implementation of the new requirements and, in respect of many of these, DfT has indicated an intention not to make changes. The consultation was discussed in FTA Freight Councils in March and April 2015.
